On the 14th May the awards for the 7th annual OKM Grade 8 Rotary Essay contest were presented at the Coast Capri Hotel. This was also the second joint meeting for the presentation of these awards between of the Okanagan-Mission Rotary Club & the Capri Rotary Club. The general theme is Projects Worthy of Rotarys Attention. The entries were judged by Sarah Watson and Keely Flannigan -
Members of the Instructional Leadership Team for School District 23. Each student presented their concepts to the group and then the prizes were distributed. |

The topics chosen by the students were wide ranging and varied from local to international projects. Student speakers discussed the use of modified shipping containers as moveable medical clinics, the need for schools to meet the diversity of their students, dealing with student obesity and the requirement in our schools for more resources to deal with mental health problems. All the presentations were well-received. The winners were: |
